Happy birthday, Mick Taylor!

The guitar great and former Rolling Stones member turns 62 today.

Mick first picked up the guitar at the age of nine and my the time he was 17 years old he had won the respect of John Mayall who asked him to join his band John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Following Brian Jones' departure from the Rolling Stones in 1969, Mick Jagger called up John and asked him for advice on a replacement guitarist and Mick Taylor's name came up. Taylor arrived the next day at the recording studio, believing he had been sent there to work as a session musician. Impressing both Jagger and Keith Richards, he was formally asked to join the band.

Taylor worked on several Stones records including "Let it Bleed", "Sticky Fingers" and "Exile on Main St." In 1974, Taylor up and left the band after he found out that any and all of his credits from "It's Only Rock n' Roll" had been omitted from the album sleeve.

One of my faves from "Let it Bleed" is "Country Honk", and alternative take on "Honky Tonk Women". Here it is, with fiddle and all.
