The Saint Cloud Apollo Eagles lost 6-4 to the Rochester Lourdes Eagles in the Consolation bracket of the Class A state high school hockey tournament. Rochester Lourdes will advance to play Marshal High School of Duluth in the Consolation Finals Saturday, March 9th from Marucci Arena at the University of Minnesota campus.

Rochester Lourdes opened the scoring with a goal by Ben Weir to take a 1-0 lead. Brandon Bisset answered for Saint Cloud Apollo and the first period ended in a 1-1 tie. Both teams scored 3 goals in the second period. St. Cloud Apollo got a goal from Jason Omann 37 seconds into the second period to take a 2-1 lead. Jason Samuelson scored for Rochester Lourdes to tie the score 2-2. Jared Christen then added a goal to give Saint Cloud Apollo a  3-2 lead. Alex Funk scored the next 2 goals to give Rochester Lourdes a 4-3 lead.  Jared Christen added a power play goal to end the second period tied at 4.

With 3 minutes left in the 3rd period, Rochester Lourdes got a goal from Montana Streit to take a 5-4 lead. They quickly added another goal on a power play by Mason Carstens for a 6-4 lead.  Saint Cloud Apollo was unable to answer in the last few minutes of the game. The Eagles finish the season with an 18-12 record.
