HOLDINGFORD - A new program for senior citizens is opening in Holdingford. The non-profit agency "Helping Hands Outreach" is having a ribbon cutting on Friday for their new Community and Adult Day Center on main street.

Executive Director Frank Haynes says the building will serve two purposes.

First it's a community center where it's got a large social area and commercial kitchen.  Anybody in the area can use it, and we've already had some meetings there.

And, it will be a place for senior adults to stay during the day while their caregivers are unavailable.

It's a daytime facility for senior adults who shouldn't be at home alone.  Maybe they're still in their home and they can be there at night because they have somebody watching them, but during the day the could benefit from having a place to go.

Haynes says it's a fee-based program.

Helping Hands Outreach has been in the Holdingford and St. Stephen area for 17 years. Their mission is to help senior adults stay in the community and in their homes with services like rides, light housekeeping, educational programs, and caregiver services.
