I am blissfully shocked by the performance of the Minnesota Twins (30-19) to this point of the 2015 season. We've suffered a lot the last few years, so that makes this even sweeter. This morning, 49 games into the season, the Minnesota Twins are alone in first place in the AL Central, a half game ahead of Kansas City.

Only two teams in major League Baseball have more wins than the Twins (St. Louis 33, Houston 31) -- and no team won more games than the Twins during the month of May. Minnesota is coming off a home stand that saw them go 5-1 against Boston and Toronto.

The Twins start a four-game series against the Red Sox tonight in Boston.

There are so many variables in baseball it's hard to pin down exactly what's going on, but I have to think that Paul Molitor's role as manager must be a large factor -- that plus the cumulative effect of lots of other smaller pieces.

Will the success last late into the season? Who knows, but it's been fun so far. I've been to a couple of games already this season -- and I'm looking forward to many more.

Go Twins!
