ST. CLOUD - The St. Cloud State University men's hockey team fought back in the third period to earn a 2-2 tie against Bemidji State University last night at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

Bemidji kicked off the scoring with a goal from Phil Brewer in the first period. The Beavers would add to their lead in the second with a goal from Nate Arentz, making it 2-0 going into the third period.

SCSU would come charging back in the third with a goal from senior defender Kevin Gravel. Nic Dowd would tie the game at 2 later in the period thanks to a power play goal.

The two teams would complete regulation and overtime tied. The tie game provided fans with their first look at a new shootout procedure. Since this was a nonconference game, the shootout didn't decide any points and the game will officially go as a tie. Bemidji State would eventually win the shootout 3-2.

The Huskies will have a bye week before going to Hamilton N.Y. on October 25-26 to take on Colgate University. The Huskies wont play at home until November 8-9 for a NCHC match-up against Miami. The season schedule for the Huskies can be found on the SCSU athletics website.
