March is the month that recognizes Women's History Month. An occasion to salute the spectacular female rockers who brought poetry and power to classic rock.

Janis Lyn Joplin was born  in Port Arthur,Texas January 19th, 1943. We lost Janis on October 4, 1970, she was 27 years young. Her nickname "Pearl."

Janis was a singer/songwriter who rapidly rose to fame in the late 1960s as a lead singer during the psychedelic/acid rock era.

Janis was the lead vocalist of Big Brother and the Holding Company, and her own Kozmic Blues Band and Full Tilt Boogie Band.
