Vikings.com is reporting that Jared Allen has been named the NFL 101 NFC Defensive Player of the Year. He set a franchise record last season with 22 sacks, only 1/2 a sack away from Michael Strahan’s single season record.  Jared comes in as 20th in All-Time Sacks with 105.

Aaron Rodgers was named offensive player of the year in the NFC,  Tom Brady took the same for the AFC.

The 2011 season award winners will be presented with trophies at the 42nd Annual NFL 101 Awards Gala in Kansas City on Saturday, March 3. The event was founded in 1969 and has evolved into what many sports insiders consider the finest awards event of its kind.
