A new line of clothing inspired by the songs of Jimi Hendrix will soon hit the shelves of New York-based upscale retailer Bloomingdale's. The collection has been fully licensed by Experience Hendrix, LLC, the company founded by Hendrix's father to make sure that his son's image is not exploited.

The apparel is being manufactured by Lyric Culture, who have struck licensing deals in the past with such acts as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. The Hendrix line will feature proprietary designs with some of Hendrix's most famous lyrics on t-shirts, men's dress shirts, cufflinks, scarves and hoodies. According to Hanna Rochelle, Lyric Culture's founder, "Some pieces even include Jimi's actual handwritten lyrics incorporated into the fabric prints."

"We're delighted to partner with Lyric Culture to launch this line of Jimi Hendrix apparel and jewelry," said Janie Hendrix, Jimi's stepsister and CEO of Experience Hendrix. "Jimi's words, music and handwriting have been cherished by so many for so long and this underscores how resonant his art has been all this while and, certainly into the future."

Bloomingdale's stores all across the country will begin stocking the apparel this month, in conjunction with what would have been Hendrix's 70th birthday on Nov. 27. Hendrix's official recordings will also be on sale.

On Nov. 8, Bloomingdale's flagship store in New York will have a special launch, with Janie signing copies of 'Jimi Hendrix: The Ultimate Lyric Book,' and an appearance by former Band of Gypsys bassist Billy Cox.
