Joan Jett Now a Golden God?

Joan Jett is being named as a Golden God at this year's Revolver Golden Gods ceremony. Who did she beat out?

Revolver Magazine started the Golden God Awards back in 2009 as a way to honor hard rock and heavy metal artists. Some pretty heavy hitters have been bestowed the honor of being named as THEE Golden God and now a woman is being recognized.

The mag announced that Joan Jett will be named the Golden God for 2014, saying that she "embodies the spirit of hard rock and metal." Joan Jett has also been announced as one of the performers at the ceremony. I've seen her live in concert and she is nothing short of amazing. It was hotter than hell and she was opening for The Guess Who at Grand Casino Hinckley and she just left it all on the stage. She didn't complain once about the heat. She just got out there and showed everyone how it's done. She played, she sang. She was just amazing. Women rockers don't have a lot of powerful females to look up to, but she is definitely one of them and I am so glad to see her being recognized because she kicks ass. If you've never seen her before, you can catch her in concert next month at Treasure Island near Red Wing.

Axl Rose is being tapped for the Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award. Axl will also perform. If he can get there on time.

The Golden God Awards are a purely fan-driven event and will take place April 23rd in Los Angeles.
