ST. CLOUD - The Johnny Holm Band is set to make another appearance at Summertime by George. The band is one of the best known bands throughout the Midwest. Having over 40 years of experience under his belt, Johnny Holm knows how to play to the crowd, and he's excited to be back in St. Cloud.

It’s always fun for me because it starts out with a large sit down audience where you can sort of entertain and do different things. Kind of like I did when I played Valleyfair, and then usually the kids take over towards the last hour of that and dance and go crazy. It’s a fun way to work it.

Holm started playing solo in the early 1970's. He says about four years after he started playing is when he formed his band. Fast forward to this year, and The Johnny Holm Band has released their own song, "Minnesota Summer Nights".

We’re getting it out there, it’s a process. It was written by a guy who played with me back in the 80’s down in Nashville, and we recorded it there. I’m really proud of it. People seem to really like it.

Holm says they will be playing their new song at tonight's concert. They take the stage at 6:30 p.m.

Tonight's opening act is Adam Hammer and Dave Cofell who play progressive folk, blues, and 'black and blues' music. You might recognize them as the co-hosts of Open Mic Night at The Local Blend in St. Joseph. They are also the founders of the Weekend of Songs: Songwriters Festival.
