Joni Mitchell was reportedly hospitalized earlier today after being found unconscious in her home. According to TMZ, the 71-year-old singer-songwriter was rushed to the hospital after a 911 call was made from her home.

TMZ reports that sources told paramedics were sent to Mitchell's Los Angeles house around 2:30PM. Apparently, Mitchell was alert on her way to the hospital.

Apparently, the singer was placed in intensive care earlier this evening, but "it's unclear what prompted the medical emergency, but it appears to be quite serious," according to TMZ.

Last year, Mitchell admitted that she suffers from a rare skin condition, called Morgellons. She said that the ailment has confined her to home, and has even made wearing clothing unbearable. The condition is considered controversial among medical professionals, many of whom claim that it is psychological.

At the time, Mitchell said Mitchell said that the illness is incurable, stating that “fibers in a variety of colors protrude out of my skin like mushrooms after a rainstorm … They cannot be forensically identified as animal, vegetable or mineral.”
