Kid Rock has always been one to speak his mind. But in a new interview, he took a few shots at Beyonce, whose fans have responded by attacking him on social media.

The man born Bob Ritchie, who helped create the rap-rock craze of the late ‘90s with his 1998 hit album Devil Without a Cause but has since redefined himself as a heartland rocker, was profiled in Rolling Stone where he admitted to being “flabbergasted” by her popularity. "Beyonce, to me, doesn't have a f—ing 'Purple Rain,' but she's the biggest thing on Earth. How can you be that big without at least one 'Sweet Home Alabama' or 'Old Time Rock & Roll'?"

Presumably overlooking her No. 1 hits like “Crazy in Love,” “Single Ladies” and “Irreplaceable,” Rock then went after Beyonce’s looks, adding, “People are like, 'Beyonce’s hot. Got a nice f—ing ass.' I'm like, 'Cool, I like skinny white chicks with big t—.’ Doesn't really f—ing do much for me."

But in this day of social media-fueled outrage, Rock’s comments weren’t going to be unnoticed for long. As Popcrush reported, a Twitter account called TheBeyHiveTeam tweeted yesterday (Feb. 27), “It never fails. every Time these hasbeens are out here flopping they take cheap shots at the throne.” They followed it up with a shot at the poor sales of Rock’s last record: “Bey's last album sold your whole weak week prediction in the 1st 15 min @KidRock go kick rocks. Your album is set to scan brick #priorities.”

In addition, an Instagram account called beybleedblue dug up television footage of Beyonce singing “Proud Mary,” where Rock is spotted in the crowd clapping along. The video is embedded below.

If he recovers from such stinging rebukes in time, Rock will spend the summer on tour with Foreigner. You can get all the dates here.
