Lamont Cranston Band, a Minnesota Treasure
In case you missed it, The Lamont Cranston Band played last night at Summertime by Lake George. One of my favorite bands going way back to the 70s. They have quite a history. Rumor has it, they were playing a club in New York City back in the 70s and band friend Al Franken, who was writing for SNL at the time, brought John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd to the club to see the band. During one of Lamont Cranston's sets, Belushi and Ackroyd joined the band on stage and the Blues Brothers were born.
Years ago, I interviewed Dan Ackroyd and he talked about Lamont Cranston's leader, Pat Hayes being probably the best blues harmonica player in the world. High praise!
