As the anticipation builds towards the June 3 re-release of the first three Led Zeppelin albums, complete with previously unreleased bonus material, the group has released a "Rough Mix with vocal" video of their classic track 'Whole Lotta Love.'

The video was initially revealed following Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page's Q&A session at a speaking engagement held in Paris last week. It is a compilation of several live performances from Led Zeppelin, some of which are well-known while others have been rarely seen. This specific version of 'Whole Lotta Love' will be included in the deluxe edition of 'Led Zeppelin II.'

Each of Led Zeppelin's surviving members have commented on this specific version track. Bassist John Paul Jones said, "'Whole Lotta Love' must have been very early on its life, so it probably hadn't developed into the juggernaut that it became in later years. But it's fresher, I think."

"You can see how songs grow," Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant declares. "There must have been five or six other takes of that, which are not present. So the shaping of these things is very interesting and you can hear with this particular version that we haven't quite reached the point yet, and that it's very, very close."

Jimmy Page oversaw the upcoming reissues from concept through to fruition and had this to offer concerning this particular version of 'Whole Lotta Love': "This version of 'Whole Lotta Love' is the mix down from the night that we recorded it, so it doesn't have any of the overdubs that everyone will be familiar with, because when they hear this they'll think, 'Oh yeah, that's the original' and all of a sudden they'll go 'No, it's not.'"

The June 3 release of deluxe editions of 'Led Zeppelin,' 'Led Zeppelin II' and 'Led Zeppelin III' are the first three releases of an extensive reissue campaign of the legendary group. All nine of Led Zeppelin's studio albums will undergo the deluxe edition treatment, sharing dozens of previously unheard studio recordings and live tracks.
