Leo Lynch is a  Le Sueur resident and World War II veteran who recently celebrated his 104th Birthday. He served in the infantry in the war and was part of The Battle of Anzio  in Italy.

He has three children who celebrated his recent birthday with him and what an honor that must be. I should be so lucky to have served as well but to be here and listen to those rewarding stories.

Veterans Day may be over on the calendar. But for any veteran, including me, it's never over. We have the memories. And I am proud to know this man served ahead of me and made way for others to do the same.

All three of his children went to celebrate their father's birthday, cherishing every moment they have with their dad.

His daughter talks of how she is so proud of him -- I don't even know him and I'm proud of him, too.

It appears his family is doing research to determine if he's the oldest living World War II veteran in Minnesota.

Thank you, Leo, for being a part of one of the foundations for which we live here in the United States of America.Thank you, Leo, for your service.
