Mankato Frankenstein Rabbit is Horrifying and Amazing at the Same Time [VIDEO]

Has Gunnar Boetcher discovered the famous 'jacklope' of legend? Not likely, but the Southern Minnesota deformed rabbit known as Frankenstein has become the latest viral video to be passed around. 

It's certainly sad, and according to many of the comments on the YouTube video, cruel. But nonetheless, the leering, degenerate place called The Internet has catapulted young Gunnar's Steve Irwin parody video to top tier viewing. According to an article in The Mankato Free Press, Gunnar and his dad decided to film the horned demon after seeing it in their yard multiple times;

"We've seen it before around the house but we've never been able to get a close look,” Boettcher said. “But we went over to him that day and he didn't run away like he normally does.”

That's when Boettcher decided he and his brother, Zander, needed to capture the moment.

Zander ran and grabbed a video camera. And when the camera rolled, Gunnar decided to have a little fun with it."

The Gustavus Aldolphus College student dropped the vid on Facebook and it took off from there.

I feel for the guy. I've actually seen a rabbit like this in my own yard. It was spooky, yet I couldn't keep myself from being curious.

After doing a bit of research, I found out the 'horns' are actually skin growths caused by the contagious Shope papilloma virus, and it can be fatal to the rabbits. It is thought to be spread in some ways by mosquitoes, ticks and fleas.

Truthfully the reason behind the vitality of the video is more than likely due to Gunnar's hilarious take on Steve Irwin's "Crocodile Hunter" show and not the horrifically deformed bunny.
