CLEARWATER -- Minnesota winters can take their toll on vehicles and now is the time to get yours checked out to prevent breakdowns.

Rob Spring owns "Rigs to Rods" in Clearwater. He says as part of their free 150-point inspection, they'll look at every part of your vehicle.

Spring says some common things which require inspection before winter include tires, coolant and your battery. He says many costly repairs can be avoided with a little preventive work.  Spring says there are some not-so-common things they look at too, like your hoses, ball joints and window defrost.

A typical inspection lasts about a half hour and Spring says they can usually get you in the same day. Depending on the repairs, you will likely have to schedule a service time.
