Quiet Riot literally exploded onto the scene in 1983 and were the first "Metal" band to top to Pop Charts.  One could argue they opened the floodgates for bands bands like themselves to achieve more Pop success.

Quiet Riot had actually been around for quite some time before they struck gold in 1983.  In fact, the band was started by Randy Rhoads, Ozzy's guitarist.  By the time they hit it big the lineup had changed considerably and former Ozzy bassist Rudy Sarzo and one-time Ratt guitarist Carlos Cavazo had joined up with drummer Frankie Banali and Kevin DuBrow (R.I.P.).

Their first and biggest hit "Cum On Feel The Noize"  was an old song from Slade, but it fit right into their writing style.  Here's one they wrote themselves and another monster hit for the band...
