Metal After Midnight: Stratovarius “Hunting High And Low”

People may be surprised to hear that Finland has been a hot-bed for Metal for well over a decade, and Stratovarius is one of the biggest names in Power Metal.

The band was formed in the mid 80's by three guys who are no longer in the band.  Guitarist Timo Tolkki joined the band and things starting moving forward. It wasn't until the early 90's when vocalist Tim Kotipelto joined that they really took off.

The band's final touches came when former Yngwie Malmsteen keyboardist Jens Johansson joined.  German world-class drummer Jorg Michael joined at the same time at the band was an unstoppable force until the early 2000's when inner turmoil broke up the chemistry.

They have continued putting out music and their lastest release "Nemesis" is among one of their greatest.  Here's a video from their early days "Hunting High And Low", which has over six million views on Youtube.
