San Francisco Power Metal band Vicious Rumors has had more of their fair share of tragedy and a revolving door of band members, but somehow founder and guitarist Geoff Thorpe was able to construct some of the most Powerful and Melodic Metal ever produced over the years.  They started in 1979 along with the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, and they have remained relevant in the Metal world now for almost 30 years.

Their 1990 self-title release was really a harbinger of the style that Europe would embrace and replicate to this day.  Yes, they can easily be compared to Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, but they implemented a more youthful sound and "gang vocals" that gave them a little more of a light "punk" sound (at least when playing live).

Tragedy struck in 1995 when vocalist Carl Albert died in a car accident.  It was a tragic loss to the Metal world, but the band has moved forward and even has a new release called "Electric Punishment".
