STEM is a term that stands for 'science, technology, engineering and math', and Minnesota was just ranked in the top 5 for best STEM jobs in the country!

The Silicon Valley area of California is on the other side of the country from Minnesota, and known for having some of the most well-known technology companies in the world. Wallethub recently released their list of the best metro area cities in the U.S. for STEM professionals, and Minneapolis was in that list at #5, just ahead of Madison, Wisconsin.

The list figured in a variety of key factors, ranging from per-capita job openings for STEM graduates to annual median wage growth for STEM jobs to projected demand for STEM workers by 2020. Here's how we ranked among the others in the country, along with those who made it in the top 10:

Those working in the STEM sectors earned an average annual wage of $87,570 as of 2015, nearly double the national average of $45,700 for all non-STEM jobs, according to the most recent figures from the BLS.
