ST. CLOUD -- After just over a year of battling Leukemia, Minnesota State Patrol Trooper Josh Orbeck has passed away, Thursday.

Orbeck joined the Minnesota State Patrol in 2014. Captain Jeff Westrum is the District Commander for the St. Cloud District. He says Orbeck was an outstanding Trooper and he will be missed.

"He [Orbeck] had care and compassion, he came to work, he went to work, he treated people with the utmost respect. I never once had a complaint about him and yet he was still busy taking drunk drivers off the road and making other arrests, he had just a heart of gold."

Orbeck worked in the Marshall district in 2014. In 2015, he transferred to the St. Cloud district.

Before being hired by the State Patrol, Orbeck was a member of the St. Cloud Police Department for six years.
