The Minnesota Wild (28-18-5) beat the visiting Las Vegas Golden Knights (34-13-4) 5-2 Friday night at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The win nudges the Wild back into the second wild card spot in the Western Conference.

Scoring for Minnesota came from Charlie Coyle (6), Tyler Ennis (7), Jared Spurgeon (7), and a pair from Eric Staal (21 & 22). Goaltender Devan Dubnyk stopped 22 of the Golden Knights 24 shots.

Former Wild Erik Haula scored for Las Vegas in the second period.
