MnDOT Crews Getting Ready For The Snowstorm

ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud got just seven-tenths of an inch of snow overnight, but that has caused problems on the roads for some morning commuters.

Meanwhile, MnDOT spokesman J.P. Gillach says the snowplows will be out all day trying to get a jump on the upcoming snowstorm.

Whenever a storm like this comes in we do try to pre-treat roads. That requires a bit of timing. So later today as the snow rolls in we're going to have every plow out on the roads in the St. Cloud and the surrounding area.  We'll have over 20 plows out.

Gillach cautions though, with the frigid temperatures coming in after the storm, the chemicals will have a tough time working.

Gillach reminds you that staying safe on the roads is a team effort.

We can only do so much. It really comes down to every individual driver. You have to drive the conditions. And, you might want to postpone that travel for a while, if you can.

The St. Cloud metro area is expected to get 6-8 inches of snow, with higher amounts to our south.

We will be in a Winter Storm Warning from noon Friday through noon Saturday. Then a Wind Chill Warning from noon Saturday through noon Sunday.
