Music and Words With Jerry Garcia And Robert Hunter, The Series (Part One) [VIDEO]
It's a big day coming for the late Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter as they will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 15, 2015.
Others to be inducted include Toby Keith, Cyndi Lauper, Linda Perry, Bobby Braddock, and Willie Dixon.
The longtime team of Garcia and Hunter had Jerry providing the music and Hunter the words, together they composed many of the well known and loved Grateful Dead songs.
Hunter began his association with the Grateful Dead in 1967, his songwriting collaboration with Garcia began in 1969 with the Grateful Dead album, 'Aoxomoxa.'
( The legendary collaboration would end roughly twenty years later with the Dead's final album 'Built to Last' (1989).
The "long strange trip" that the lyricist and the group took together proved to be rock era classics. A dip into some classic era Grateful Dead and Garcia recordings revealed a unique writing team.
