UNDATED - The National Weather Service in Chanhassen has released it's 2016-2017 Winter Outlook.

Meteorologist Allie Keclik says we have about 50 to 55 inches of snow in a normal winter, and it's likely we'll be above that this winter.

We can expected a colder and snowier winter than last year.

Keclik says it's also likely we will have near to below normal average temperatures.

Last winter temperatures were five to seven degrees above normal.  We had 30 to 36 inches of snow last year, which was 10 to 20 inches below normal.

What's the reason for the colder and snowier prediction for this winter?  Forecasters are predicting a La Nina this winter. There have been 10 LaNina winters since 1950, the last one was the winter of 2005-2006.
