Why he was hesitant and what changed his mind.

Bob Seger tells Spinner that he was so fired up about his new album that when Capitol Records approached him about an anthology package, his first reaction was to say no.

He says that he was so busy with his next record and upcoming tour, that doing a greatest hits collection never even crossed his mind, but the more he thought about it, the more it made sense. Christmas was coming and he felt like the fans should have something so the two disc set was, "the thing that made the most sense."

Seger is still on the road, but, he hopes to have his next album of new material in stores next year and fans better enjoy it while it lasts. He says that he's looking at retirement in the near future, because, "I'm going to be 70 in three and a half years, so it might be time to go away fairly soon."
