The new video game releases for July 2012 has very little to get excited about. One interesting note is that while there’s not a single new Vita game coming out there are plenty for the 3DS. E3 was pretty light on stuff for Sony’s new system but let’s hope we start to see more releases in the coming months.

Besides a Final Fantasy rhythm game (seriously!) the new video game releases for July includes The Last Story, which may mark the final time you may ever use your Wii. While it’s a JRPG at heart, the gameplay is remarkably similar to modern third-person shooters, with real-time combat, a cover system, and companions ready to take your every command. The game features 6-player co-op and competitive online modes.

The creator and composer for Final Fantasy (Hironobu Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu) both worked on The Last Story. While the game was released last year in Japan, fans of the developers went nuts when Nintendo announced that they wouldn’t be localizing it for English audiences. Fortunately XSEED games picked up the slack.
