Wisconsin lawmakers know how to get work done in their capital.  They are set to honor the man who used cheese to create the state's most beloved cultural symbol.

The state Assembly votes today on a joint resolution to honor Ralph Bruno for creating the famous foam cheesehead hat. The resolution would also honor Bruno's employees at Foamation Inc. in Milwaukee, where the hats are made.

Bruno made the first hat in 1987 using stuffing from his couch, after Bears fans called him a cheesehead.

Cheesehead hats are sold today in all 50 states and in more than 30 countries. So yes Packer Backers, your cheesehead is now an official state icon… and your state government really does know what’s important work.
