Paul McCartney has been awarded the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, for his 2012 release 'Kisses on the Bottom.' The announcement was made prior to the show's televised portion.

This win brings McCartney's career Grammy total to 16. 'Kisses on the Bottom' is an album largely comprised of lush cover versions of songs he enjoyed as a child, with guest appearances from Stevie Wonder and Eric Clapton. He performed the album's lead single, 'My Valentine,' with help from Joe Walsh at last year's Grammy Awards ceremony.

In addition, McCartney's 1973 album 'Band on the Run' was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame this year. He wasn't as lucky in two other categories, however. The deluxe edition reissue of his 1971 album 'Ram' lost in the Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package category to 'Woody at 100: The Woddy Guthrie Centennial Collection.' That same album was bested by his old rivals the Beach Boys in the Best Historical Album category, with Brian Wilson and company taking the honor for their 'The Smile Sessions' Deluxe Box Set.
