A sloppy start for the Minnesota Vikings, combined with a tough Buffalo defense, and an impressive performance by Bills rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel, proved too much to keep the Vikings from falling to 0-2 in the preseason. Adrian Peterson did not play.

While the mantra continues to be, "it's only preseason," the lack of progress is troubling.

Ponder was unimpressive (5 for 12, 53 yards), but had little protection. Pro-bowl tight end Kyle Rudolph flat out dropped a pass. Blair Walsh missed a 49-yard field goal. Center John Sullivan snapped a ball to Ponder when he wasn't ready, and center Joe Berger sailed one over Matt Cassel's head, that was recovered for a touchdown by the Bills.

The Vikings scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns, but after the onslaught of earlier mistakes, and only 3 points being out up by the starters, it was too little too late.

Next up for the Vikes: at San Francisco on Sunday, August 25th at 7pm CDT. (NBC)
