R.E.M. Calls it Quits After 31 Years

The band left this message on their official website "To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band. We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening." R.E.M. The statement is followed by individual thoughts from the band-mates on the break up.

The band has a lot to be thankful for after 31 years together, 15 studio albums, and a greatest hits collection to be released later this year. I guess not everything can last forever.
