Recognizing The African American Influence On Classic Rock – Black History Month – Buddy Guy [VIDEOS]
A great story here, Eric Clapton stated, “Buddy Guy is by far and without a doubt the best guitar player alive” (Musician Magazine). Both Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix have confessed that Buddy has strongly influenced their work by his amazing electric blues guitar work.
Buddy has a very high degree of skill and flair and it reflects in his showmanship. He’s been known to play guitar behind his back, over his head, with drumsticks and even while chit-chatting with the audience without blinking an eye.
Buy has performed with some great ones, i.e., Eric Clapton with Jack Bruce (Cream), Stephen Stills and Led Zeppelin for the British film, ‘Supershow’ (1969) a dcumentary about blues rock.
Eric Clapton, “If you see him in person, the way he plays is beyond anyone. He really changed the course of rock and roll blues.” (Musician Magazine)
Because Buddy is so good I had to attach two videos for you one as a solo playing, “Sweet Home Chicago”and the other with Eric Clapton as they perform, “Hoochie Coochie Man” in 2007.
