A Red Flag Warning is in effect for most of Minnesota today, issued by the National Weather Service to alert us to extreme fire danger. Strong winds, low humidities, and dry conditions combine to set the stage for 'critical fire weather conditions.'

Red Flag Warning is issued by the National Weather Service to inform area firefighting and land management agencies that conditions are ideal for wild land fire ignition and propagation. A Fire Weather Watch implies similar conditions are likely. Both the Red Flag Warning and Fire Weather Watch are in effect until 7 PM tonight.

In addition to the weather conditions, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has listed the general fire danger in our area as 'Extremely High,' meaning that fires will start very easily and spread very rapidly.

Burning permits are currently not being issued across most counties in our area.
