Roger Daltrey Talks ‘Tommy’
That deaf, dumb and blind boy sure plays a mean pinball!
The LOON welcomes Roger Daltrey to Target Center on Wedenesday, October 5th where the legendary WHO frontman will perform the bands rock opera TOMMY in it's entirety.
Daltrey recently said the piece by bandmate Pete Townsend got the band back on track when it was released back in 1969.
He recently rold the New York Times that the piece set the bar high for all future WHO material.
"The Who was just in a lost period. . . We made all these strange singles -- 'Pictures Of Lily,' 'I'm A Boy,' 'Happy Jack' -- and I was searching for the voice of the band again. (Tommy) was what brought the band back to its root. I was searching, trying to find what it needed, and Tommy was definitely the vehicle to get me there."
But as to why he chose to tour behind Tommy on his own and not with Townsend, he explains "He doesn't wanna tour because he's having terrible trouble with his ears. I'm working on a different monitor system so we can keep the volume down."
