The Rox moved to within three games of first place with a 5-4 win over Wisconsin Rapids Tuesday night. First place Waterloo had their game at Lakeshore (WI) rained out with no makeup date immediately announced.

St. Cloud put up a pair of runs in each of the first two innings, including a Dustin Brashears solo home run leading off the second. The Rox led the game 5-1 after two and a half innings.

Jason Hoppe pitched just three innings in his start for the Rox, although he threw just 61 pitches. The Sauk Rapids native struck out five and walked two while allowing two runs on six hits.

SCSU pitcher Nick Maiers took the loss for Wisconsin Rapids after allowing five runs on eight hits in three innings.

The Rox continue interleague play on Wednesday night at LaCrosse (WI).
