Sammy Hagar currently spends his time in the band Chickenfoot, but in a recent interview Hagar revealed that prior to Van Halen, he had a lot of offers that he chose not to take.

Sammy turned down the opportunity to be a part of bands like Motley Crue, Pantera, Velvet Revolver, and Aerosmith. He was hoping to be asked to join Led Zeppelin, just so he could turn them down, but it never happened. Hagar said no one could replace Robert Plant.

Hagar admitted joining Van Halen was easy because "Dave Lee Roth wasn't a great singer, but a good frontman." He felt that was a band he could come in to and sell out the same arenas they were before - and he was right. It worked out, and that's rare.
