Former St. Cloud State standout hockey player and Hobey Baker winner Drew LeBlanc is a finalist for the Sports Illustrated  College Athlete of the year.  The award celebrates one female and male collegiate student athlete who has achieved athletic distinction, academic achievement and work within the community.

LeBlanc is one of 10 finalists for the award.  The College Athlete of the Year winners will be featured in the May 27 issue of Sports Illustrated.  It will be available on newsstands May 22.  LeBlanc is a pro contract with the Chicago Blackhawks after the the college season ended and made his NHL debut last month.  The other male finalists for the SI award are Trey Burke, a basketball player at Michigan, Kyle Dake, a wrestler at Cornell, Khaled Holmes, a football player at USC and Tyler Thornton, a basketball player at Duke.
