The internet has been abuzz that ‘Saturday Night Live‘ might be losing yet another cast member / writer, at least in a regular capacity, as rumors floated that ‘Weekend Update’ vet Seth Meyers might be ready to take the big job with Kelly Ripa after Regis Philbin’s retirement.  Meyers has been pretty mum up until now, filling in for Regis this past week, but now the ‘SNL’ star is giving his definitive answer.

Unless the comedian makes some radical last minute change, ‘Saturday Night Live’ star Seth Meyers will not be taking over for Regis Philbin on ‘Live With Regis and Kelly.’  The rumor mill had Meyers in the front running to take the job, but now the comedian has publicly denounced the possibility, saying to the Orlando Sun-Sentinel recently:

“No, no, no, no, no.  I know [Regis’ replacement] is a very important thing down there. But, right now, what I would say to you: I’m really in love with the job I have. I’m very excited to be going back [to 'Saturday Night Live'] for the election season, which is always fun.”

As The Hollywood Reporter points out, it’s possible that Meyers might take up additional ‘Saturday Night Live’ duties on Thursday nights. An opening in NBC’s Thursday night lineup in the fall season has many speculating that he could reprise the ‘Saturday Night Live’ ‘Weekend Update’ Thursday specials that Meyers hosted in both 2008 and 2009.

What say you?  Are you disappointed not to have Seth Meyers in the daylight?  Who do you think is best to replace Regis Philbin?  Sound off in the comments below!
