Sex, Drugs, And Rock-N-Roll In Minnesota

Baxter and Laura recently reminded me that it’s my job to make posts about the holy trinity - sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll, and not some of the other lame and boring topics that I’ve been posting about recently.

You don’t have to tell me twice. Sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll is what my life as an angsty 24 year old guitar player is all about (minus the sex, for the most part. It’s the occasional treat. Sorry if that’s TMI.) So today we’re going to take a look at what the most popular subject in each of these categories is here in the land of 10,000 lakes. Let’s get started.

• Sex

Oh yes, sex. Mankind’s favorite pastime. Where would we be without it? It’s arguably the most important aspect of life next to being able to eat and breathe. So, according to Minnesotans, who is the sexiest person alive?

Drum roll please… Minnesotans answered – Taylor Swift. Hey, not a bad choice. That’s not really my style of music, but let’s just be real - Taylor is hot, even if she isn’t particularly curvaceous. Good choice Minnesotans.

• Drugs

This is probably the most controversial part of the list. Some people have a vendetta against having a good time. Personally, I think you should be able to do whatever you want to your body as long as you’re not about to get behind the wheel of a vehicle and potentially hurt someone.

But that’s another post for another day. So, what is Minnesota’s drug of choice? The answer is – Marijuana. That’s an acceptable answer. It may not be the most enlightening substance out there, but hey, if you’re listening to The Loon, the likelihood that you smoke weed while listening to Pink Floyd is pretty high. There’s no shame in that. Believe me, we’ve all been there. Once again, solid choice.

• Rock-n-roll

And finally, we arrive at my personal favorite topic on the list – Rock-n-roll. Rock music has dominated my life since I was a child. I listen to Tool, Pink Floyd, and Foo Fighters religiously. I wouldn’t want to imagine a world without rock music.

It’s been one of the most important movements in pop culture, period. So, what exactly is Minnesota’s favorite rock group? It should come as no surprise that the answer is – Prince and the Revolution. Prince isn’t my personal favorite, but I respect the guy. Again, good choice Minnesota.

Well, there you have it. Minnesota’s favorite sexy chick, drug of choice, and preferred rock group. I give us an A+ on this test. You make me proud to be a Minnesotan.
