Jerry was musically excellent at dipping into different musical genres, such as;  bluegrass, jazz-rock, R&B and roots rock.as diverse as bluegrass, jazz-rock, R&B and roots rock.

This album was originally titled "Garcia," as well oddly enough, however; in 1974 came Jerry's second solo album.

The album itself was that of eclectic covers from a variety of artists including from Smokey Robinson,The Rolling Stones and Chuck Berry, just to name a few.

On the album is a really cool acoustic rendition of Irving Berlin's "Russian Lullaby" by Garcia.

Singer Maria Muldaur, mandolinist David Grisman and keyboardist Merl Saunders are some of the supporting artists on the album.

Essential songs from 'Compliments':

  • "Russian Lullaby"
  • "Mississippi Moon"
  • "When the Hunter gets Captured by the Game"
  • "Let's Spend the Night Together"
  • "Let it Rock"
