ST. CLOUD -- Two St. Cloud couples are working together to raise money for the St. Cloud Salvation Army's Back to School Fundraiser.

Ann Thelen and Mark Thelen along with Diana Murphy-Podawiltz and Mike Podawiltz will be donating a minimum of $3,000 with the goal of raising $6,000.

Shannon Miller is a St. Cloud Salvation Army volunteer and event coordinator she says this donation is coming at the perfect time since Catholic Charities will not be hosting a school supply drive this year.

"It’s nearly July already and we are up against the clock since we’re doing all the fundraising and distribution on our own this year."

Miller says the school supplies that are needed the most include backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, glue, folders and markers.

Last year, the Salvation Army gave 400 kids backpacks and school supplies. Miller says this year they are expecting to provide for nearly 1,500 students.

If you would like to make a donation you can stop at the St. Cloud Salvation Army at 400, U.S. Highway 10 South or donate online.
