Star Wars Films Ranked From Worst to Best
Star Wars Films Ranked From Worst To Best
By now, you should be pretty used to me posting about “Star Wars” on a weekly basis. I try to spice it up here and there with other topics, but it’s pretty hard to let an entire week go by without publicly acknowledging the greatest space odyssey of all time. So, let’s get down to business. Here are the “Star Wars” films ranked from worst to best.
9th Place goes to – “Episode 2: Attack Of The Clones”
This film is by far, the worst episode in the franchise. 90% of the movie is nothing but awkward, sexual tension between Anakin and Padm’e. Not to mention, the dialogue is atrocious.
8th Place goes to – “Episode 1: The Phantom Menace”
Let’s be honest. Jar Jar Binks ruined this movie. But at least Darth Maul was cool.
7th Place goes to – “Rogue One”
Rogue one was actually a really great addition to the “Star Wars” franchise. It’s not that it was bad, it’s just that the films that rank higher on this list ARE THAT GOOD! This installment allowed us to see what it’s like to live in the “Star Wars” universe without having the advantage of being blessed with force sensitive capabilities. It was a cool, and different approach.
6th Place (fittingly) goes to – “Episode 6: Return Of The Jedi”
Episode 6 is a solid episode, and it would have ranked a lot higher on this list if not for the Ewoks. Did George Lucas seriously think it was a good idea to have the Galactic Empire taken down by a bunch of teddy bears? Apparently so. Lame, just lame. Luke and Vader do have their final showdown together though, and that’s pretty sweet.
5th Place goes to – “Episode 7: The Force Awakens”
I think we can all agree that episode 7 was the perfect way to reboot “Star Wars.” Kylo Ren is possibly the greatest villain in the series, and it has the most heart wrenching scene in cinema history. Rest in peace Han.
4th Place (again, fittingly) goes to – “Episode 4: A New Hope”
Oh, yes. The film that started it all. Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie, and the droids. The gang is all here. Probably the most nostalgic installment of the franchise. Need I elaborate any further?
AND NOW WE’RE DOWN TO THE TOP 3… BRACE YOURSELVES!
3rd Place goes to – “Episode 8: The Last Jedi”
I don’t care who you are, this is one of the greatest films of all time. In terms of character development, this is hands down, the best “Star Wars” movie. The shock value alone is enough to give any die-hard fan a heart attack. It’s Carrie Fisher’s final performance, and everyone’s favorite farm-boy dies off too. It hurts my heart. I’ve written extensively on this episode in a previous article that you can find on 1037theloon.com.
2nd Place goes to – “Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back”
Believe me, it was hard not to rank this at #1. Everything about this episode is top notch: the Hoth battle, Han getting frozen in carbonite, the light-saber duel, all of it. Not to mention it sports the most famous twist in cinema history. You know which scene I’m talking about.
Well, if you haven’t figured it out yet, that only leaves one more episode…
1st Place goes to – “Episode 3: Revenge Of The Sith”
There, I said it. Go ahead and crucify me. I know in the eyes of the supposed “true Star Wars fans” it’s blasphemy to even acknowledge the prequels, let alone rank one of them as the greatest film in the series. You wanna know why this episode gets first place? It’s not the acting, and it’s definitely not Palpatine’s dialogue. It’s the relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan. The two best buds in the galaxy are turned against each-other and square off in the best light-saber duel in the entire franchise. It’s simultaneously awesome and heart wrenching. (Not to mention, if you play “Vicarious” by Tool over top of this scene, it’s the single greatest 7 minutes you’ll ever experience.) And to top it all off, we get to see how Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader – the most revered villain in pop culture. This episode definitely ties the story of “Star Wars” together more than any other.
Like it or not, that’s my list and I’m sticking to it.
