From the moment 'American Horror Story' creator Ryan Murphy revealed that the latest season of his hit FX series would focus on the lives of a coven of witches, you just knew someone was going to make a Stevie Nicks reference. And as it turns out, Nicks is perfectly willing to play along.

Nicks' public image has always incorporated elements of the supernatural, and she's been followed for years by rumors that she's secretly a witch, so it was only natural that the young women in 'American Horror Story: Coven' -- in particular Misty Day, the character played by Lily Rabe -- would hold Nicks up as an object of fascination. But after weeks of being mentioned on the show, the Fleetwood Mac singer agreed to take things one step further by playing herself in an upcoming episode.

As Murphy explained when he revealed his casting coup, "It’s part of Fiona’s ruse in that Fiona is trying to get the true Supreme to reveal herself because she needs to stay alive. So she tells Misty Day that the Supreme gets so many great things in life, like tickets to the Oscars and Met Ball tickets. So she brings Stevie Nicks in as a gift to Misty to prove to her that if she exhibits more power she’ll get that and more. Then the other girls come home and see Stevie and Misty singing and it starts them trying to move much quicker to prove that they are the Supreme."

That won't mean much to anyone who doesn't already watch 'Coven,' but Nicks fans will still want to get a look at her on the set, and Murphy is willing to oblige: He recently tweeted proof of her appearance, telling followers, "She's here!"

It'll be a few weeks before Nicks' episode airs, as 'Coven' is scheduled for a brief winter hiatus before returning to the schedule in early 2014. In the meantime, Fleetwood Mac fans can occupy themselves by re-watching Mick Fleetwood's cameo appearance on 'Star Trek: The Next Generation.'
