Having lived a very public life for nearly 40 years, you’d think there wasn’t much that we didn’t already know about Stevie Nicks. But today (Dec. 28) we learn that she can officiate weddings. Yesterday she presided over the marriage between singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton and John McCauley, the frontman of indie band Deer Tick.

Shortly after the ceremony was completed, Carlton sent out the above tweet of the three of them at a particularly scenic locale with the message “Thanks Stevie for marrying us!” While the bride wore the traditional white, it appears that McCauley decided to forgo the tuxedo and went business casual.

Carlton’s 2002 debut, ‘Be Not Nobody’ featured the Top 10 hit ‘A Thousand Miles,’ which earned three Grammy nominations. For several years the song was used by Zales Jewelers as the theme for their ad campaign during the Christmas season.

Hailing from Providence, R.I., Deer Tick are one of the most acclaimed and prolific folk-rock bands around, having released five albums and a handful of EPs since 2007, most notably 2009’s excellent ‘Born on Flag Day.’ McCauley has also been a member of side project/supergroups Middle Brother and Diamond Rugs.
