The late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan was honored last night with the inaugural induction into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame.

I am a HUGE fan of Austin City Limits. I often choose that over everything else on TV and have been lucky enough to catch some truly great performances. Many times I check out groups or artists I had never seen live before and wasn’t planning on seeing live, until I saw them on ACL.

Stevie Ray Vaughan, a native of Texas shared the inaugural induction alongside Texas native Willie Nelson, the creator of Austin City Limits Bill Arhos and the late University of Texas football great Darryl Royal. Why a football guy? Because Darryl was an early supporter of the program and without him on board, ACL may have never taken off.

The show was taped for playback in October when ACL will celebrate 40 years on the air.
