Weight loss fads are everywhere...and are big business. The weight loss market is valued at almost $60 billion.

Most of us have tried a fad diet, hoping it'll work. Sometimes it does, most often it doesn't (aside from the weight loss experienced by your bank account).

There is now a new fad...er, "movement...in Hong Kong that's been dubbed "sun eating".

According to Oriental Daily (you'll need a language-translating browser), looking into the light will replace the need for a normal diet. Yes, the 'diet' is more sun gazing than eating.

Beginners look at the sun for 10 seconds on the first day, and then add 10 seconds every day until reaching 44 minutes. Yes: 44 minutes of looking at the sun. Perhaps the string that's always attached to something like this is going blind, and thus not having to look at your fat self anymore.

At least it's not "son eating".
