The High School Football section pairings have been announced for the upcoming playoffs. Moorhead is #1 in Section 8-5-A, Sartell is #2, Apollo is #3, Alexandria #4, Tech is #5 and Sauk Rapids-Rice is #6.
The High School Football regular season comes to a close tonight throughout the area. The matchups include Rocori (4-3) at Tech (3-4) at Husky Stadium at SCSU at 7pm, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 6:45. Both teams have lost 3 games in a row. Rocori is playing without starting quarterback Mac Mueller who is out with a separated shoulder. Junior Brad Fabel has been starting in place of Mueller.
Tonight is Week 7 of the High School Football Regular season and the featured matchup in the St. Cloud area is Tech at Apollo at 7pm. The Tigers are 3-3 after are coming off back to back loses where they've lead in the 4th quarter. Apollo is coming off a 9-6 win at Sauk Rapids-Rice. The win snapped a 22-game losing streak for the school.
The High School Football rankings were announced Thursday and Rocori is ranked #8 this week in the Class 4A state poll. Rocori is 4-1 and is coming off a 20-12 loss at home to previously winless Sauk Rapids-Rice. The Spartans lost starting quarterback and top runner Mac Mueller. The Spartans will play at Big Lake Friday night at 7pm, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 6:45.
Week 5 of the High School Football season starts tonight when St. Cloud Tech hosts Moorhead at St. Cloud State's Husky Stadium at 7pm. The Tigers are 3-1 while Moorhead and 4-0 and ranked #7 in the state in this week's Class 5A state poll. Tech is coming off a 28-6 win at Sauk Rapids-Rice last Friday. Tech is led by running back Jacob Peterson who ran for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Storm. The Tigers are playing their home games at SCSU with Clark Field deemed unplayable due to problems with the locker rooms and concession stands.
The Rocori football team plays Bemidji Saturday at 3pm in the Class 4A State Championship game at the Prep Bowl at the Metrodome, pregame on WJON at 2:45 with Ty James and Chris Chapman. Rocori head football coach Mike Rowe is excited about playing the state championship but is confident in their defense despite facing a very dangerous Bemidji offense.
