The SCSU Huskies (1-0), SJU Johnnies (1-0), and Minnesota Golden Gophers (0-1) are all in action this afternoon for Week 2 of the college football season. The Johnnies are at home in Collegeville. The Huskies and Gophers are both on the road playing out of state.

The Gophers lost 23-17 to #2 TCU Thursday night. Minnesota trailed 10-0 after 1 quarter and 10-3 at halftime. Mitch Leidner threw for 197 yards and 1 touchdown with no interception,

The Minnesota Gopher football team opens its season tonight against the #2 TCU Horned Frogs at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The St. Cloud State Huskies also kickoff the new season tonight against Concordia-St. Paul at Husky Stadium. I'll miss the SCSU opener, because I'll be at the Gopher game.

The Gopher football team is picked 3rd in the Big Ten West Division preseason media poll. Wisconsin is picked to win the West Division with Nebraska 2nd. Wisconsin was picked to win the Division on 32 of 40 first place ballots,

The St. Cloud State Huskies (19-18-1) are moving on to the NCAA Men's Hockey tournament, taking on Michigan Tech (29-9-2) in the first round Friday night in Fargo. Minnesota, UMD, and Minnesota State (Mankato) also made the 16-team tourney, with Minnesota schools taking 1/4 of the spots.

The St. Cloud State Huskies (19-17-1) and the Minnesota Gophers (22-12-3) will each play for their respective conference championships tonight in separate title games. SCSU will face Miami (Ohio) at 7:30 PM in the Target Center. Minnesota will face Michigan at 7 PM in Detroit.

The Minnesota Gophers Men's Hockey team (22-12-3) has advanced to the Big Ten title game with a 3-0 shutout win over Ohio State (14-19-3) tonight in Detroit. The Gophers will face Michigan (22-14-0) for the conference championship tomorrow night in the Motor City.

The game was tied at 35 at the half, but the Buckeyes controlled play for a majority of the final 20 minutes on their way to the win. The Gophers got within two points twice in the game's final ten minutes but could not get over the hump

The Gophers lost 79-76 at home against Penn State Sunday afternoon on Senior Day at Williams Arena. D.J. Newbill made a contested 25-foot jumper from the top of the key as time expired to win the game.

The Wisconsin Badgers topped the Gopher men’s basketball team 76-63 Thursday night at Williams Arena. With the loss Minnesota’s record drops to 17-13 overall and 6-11 in the Big Ten Conference.

Both the St. Cloud State Huskies (13-14-1) and the Minnesota Golden Gophers (17-9-3) men's hockey teams scored wins over conference opponents tonight. The Huskies skated to a 4-3 win over Nebraska-Omaha at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Minnesota beat Penn State 2-1 on the road.
