Following the mid-season firing of Mike Yeo by the Minnesota Wild Sunday night -- Iowa Wild head coach John Torchetti has had to make a quick adjustment to the NHL for tonight's game at Vancouver, but rest assured; tonight is not Torchett's first rodeo behind the NHL bench.

The Minnesota Wild have fired head coach Mike Yeo following the team's eighth straight loss yesterday afternoon. In the midst of his fifth season with the Wild, Yeo rung up a 173-132-44 record with the team. John Torchetti, coach of the AHL Iowa Wild, has been named the interim head coach.

The Minnesota Wild (21-22-10) have now gone eight straight games without a win -- falling this afternoon 4-2 to the visiting Boston Bruins (30-19-6) at the Xcel Energy Center. The Wild have now lost 13 of their last 14, including eight straight at home.

The Minnesota WIld lost 4-3 at home against Washington last night. Alex Ovechkin scored 3 goals in the 2nd period for Washington. Minnesota got goals from Charlie Coyle, Ryan Suter and Mikhael Granlund. Suter's goal was on a power play in the 3rd period.

Minnesota actually led 2-0 early in the first period after a Ryan Carter breakaway goal at 2:09 and a Matt Dumba power play tally at 7:57. The two-goal lead would hold up into the first intermission.

The Wild play at New York again Thursday night, this time against the Rangers. The game can be heard on AM 1240 WJON beginning with the pregame at 5:45 p.m..

The Arizona Coyotes beat the Minnesota Wild 2-1 in the shootout Monday night at Xcel Energy Center. The Wild head to the All Star break with a record of 23-17-9 on the season and finish the month of January 3-7-3.

The Minnesota Wild faced the San Jose Sharks last (Saturday) night. The Wild lost to the Sharks 3-4.
